Rate: $18-$22, DOE

About Us: At the Dawn Institute, we’re dedicated to accessible agriculture and enriching our community through hands-on gardening experiences. We’re seeking a dynamic Seasonal Farm Manager to oversee daily farm operations during our peak season and ensure our crops and team thrive, and assist with field trips.

Job Summary: The Seasonal Farm Manager will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of farm management, including crop planning, planting, maintenance, and harvesting. This role involves supervising staff, managing equipment and supplies, and ensuring adherence to best practices for sustainable and efficient farming. In addition, the Farm Manager assists the Executive Director to organize and facilitate field trips and educational offerings. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for agriculture, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily farm operations, including planting, irrigation, and harvesting.

  • Supervise and coordinate a team of workers and volunteers.

  • Develop and implement crop management plans and schedules.

  • Monitor plant health, soil conditions, and pest control measures.

  • Manage farm equipment, ensuring maintenance and safety standards are met.

  • Maintain accurate records of crop yields, labor, and expenses.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and farm policies.

  • Assist in field trips and educational offerings.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in farm/garden management or agricultural operations is preferred but not necessary.

  • Strong knowledge of crop cultivation, soil management, and sustainable farming practices.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift heavy objects.

  • Proficiency with farm equipment and tools, or willingness to learn.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
